The Consumer confidence indicator increased in July, after stabilizing in the previous month. The evolution observed in the last month resulted from the positive contribution of expectations on the future evolution of households’ financial situation, of the country’s economic situation and of major purchases by households. In the opposite direction, opinions on the past evolution of households’ financial situation registered a negative contribution. 

The balances of Consumer opinions on past price developments and of expectations on future price developments increased in July, following declines in May and June.

The economic climate indicator stabilizedin July, suspending the upward movement observed in the last three months. The confidence indicators decreased in Services and in Construction and Public Works, having increased in Manufacturing Industry and in Trade.

The Services confidence indicator decreased in July, after the upward movement observed between May and June, with negative contributions of the opinions on the evolution of the business and perspectives on the evolution of demand, whereas the order books contributed positively. Also, the confidence indicator of Construction and Public Works also decreased in the last month, after having increased in May and June, reflecting the negative contribution from both components, perspectives on employment and opinions on current order books. In the other hand, the Manufacturing Industry confidence indicator has increased between February and July, with the firm’s production perspectives over the next three months and the opinions on the evolution of the overall order books contributed positively to the evolution of the indicator. The Trade confidence indicator also increased, after declining in the past four months, reflecting the positive contributions from opinions on the volume of sales and on the current volume of stocks.

In July, the entrepreneurs’ expectations regarding the future evolution of selling prices decreased in  the last two months in the Services and Trade sectors, having increased in July in the Construction and Public Works sector and significantly in the Manufacturing Industry sector.
