The tourist accommodation sector registered 2.2 million guests and 5.0 million overnight stays in November 2024, corresponding to variations of +14.0% and +9.8%, respectively (+3.7% and +2.5% in October 2024, in the same order). Residents’ overnight stays had a significant increase (+22.2%, after +0.9% in October), corresponding to 1.7 million, while those by non-residents recorded a more modest growth (+4.6%, after +3.1% in October), totaling 3.4 million.
In external markets, the British kept leading (14.7% share), having grown by 0.3% in November, followed by Germany (12.5% share), which increased by 2.1%. Among the top 10 source markets in November, the Polish market stood out with the highest increase (+15.9%).
All regions recorded an increase in overnight stays, with the most significant growth observed in the Centro (+24.6%), Peninsula de Setúbal (+19.3%), in Norte (+18.3%) and in RA Açores (+16.4%).
Occupancy in tourist accommodation establishments reached 37.7% and 49.0 in November, respectively, in net bed and room occupancy rates (+1.4 p.p. and +2.0 p.p., in the same order).
Up to November this year, overnight stays have increased by 4.1%, +2.5% for residents and +4.8% for non-residents.
