Based on the information available until the date of this press release, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) annual rate is estimated to have increased to 3.0% in December 2024 (2.5% in November). The core inflation index, which excludes energy and unprocessed food products components was 2.8% (2.6% in the previous month). The annual rate of change of the index for energy products increased to 4.9% (2.1% in November) and the estimated rate for unprocessed food was 3.4% (1.9% in the previous month). These two aggregates were the main contributors for the CPI acceleration.
The CPI monthly rate is estimated to be 0.1% (-0.2% in November and -0.4% in December 2023), while the CPI 12-month average rate was estimated to be 2.4% (2.3% in the previous month).
The estimate of the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) annual rate of change was 3.1% (2.7% in the previous month).
The December CPI final results will be released on January 13th, 2024.
